Dark Shadows

I chose this particular movie because I watched it last night and thought that it'd be a good movie to do a blog on since it was so interesting and weird like most Tim Burton movies. Here is the trailer for the movie.

The movie is based on a man named Barnabas whose parents were killed, so Barnabas started to fool around with black magic and that junk. He started to fool around with a witch who fell in love with Barnabas. When Barnabas left the witch to be with his true love the witch decided to put her under a spell and have her jump off a cliff into rocks to die. Barnabas jumped down after her once his heart was broken, and that's when the witch turned him into a vampire. The witch ended up having the towns people bury him alive. Barnabas was buried for two centuries from 1752 to 1972. When Barnabas was alive he was a rich, powerful and successful man, but when he rose again all that he worked so hard for was gone with his family not having money anymore, so Barnabas's new mission was to regain all which he had lost. 

Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have worked together in many movies such as Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd, Alice In Wonderland, and now Dark Shadows. The movies that Tim Burton does are I would like to say dark type of movies, and the movies are quite strange, but you can always tell if it's a Tim Burton movie just by the way that the people look, and speak. Dark Shadows is quite similar to all the other movies Tim Burton has produced. Most of his movies have a love that usually involves some type of death that gets in the way.

This movie isn't very important to the culture of movies, and if you ask me it's one of the worst films that Tim Burton has produced, but Dark Shadows really show's how times can change through the centuries. The movies target audience would be the more of 25+ older males and females. The movie is really sexual which I found kind of awkward if you took your kids to see it.

This movies strengths were how it was produced well, had a great cast, good plot, and was interesting. The weaknesses that this movie had was that it was awkwardly sexual, kinda slow, and most people can't take vampire movies too seriously ever since the Twilights were made. The critics rated this movie 3 out of 5 stars which means it's an average movie that could be forgotten within a week, but they also had some mixed reviews some liked it and others didn't. I enjoy most of Tim Burton's movies I have plenty at home, and I think when this movie comes out I'll buy it to add to my Tim Burton collection I already have. My friends and family would think the same way I thought about this movie which is that it was a decent movie with some good twists but not an award winner. I learned that the critics thought about the same about this movie as I did.
