Dr. Pepper's not for women.

If you've ever watched the Dr. Pepper commercial about how it has 10 manly calories, and how isn't for women. Maybe you thought like me by saying I bet that pissed some girls off. Some may find it really sexist to both male and females. It's sexist to women for the obvious reasons, but for men it could show how men need to be "macho-men" instead of looking "girly".

In the ad Dr. Pepper starts it out by being in a action type film which stereo typically makes sense since most women don't like action films. None of the actors in the ad are familiar to me, but the ad is only 30 seconds long so it doesn't have the chance to really show too many people. Dr. Pepper has also gone above and beyond with their ten man'ments. http://blog.americansoda.co.uk/2011/09/dr-pepper-issue-the-ten-manments-broken-any-men/#.T7lG7utrN1U

The approach that Dr. Pepper is trying to give a hidden-fear. They use the hidden-fear technique because men do no want to be "unmanly" which I'm sure is working for Dr. Pepper.

This is the same thing that other soda companies are doing to make their diet soda more appealing to male consumer, but no other company has been more blunt about it the way Dr. Pepper has. The target audience that Dr. Pepper is trying to reach are obviously men, and it should not take a rocket scientist to figure that one out, but the commercial does include a stereotype that men have to "macho-men" like i previously stated.

There are many strengths and weaknesses that this ad has. Some of the strengths may include higher sales to men, also the ad is funny so Dr. Pepper can get quite a few likes on facebook which in turn will put their ad out more so more people can watch it. The weaknesses on the other hand far out weight the strengths. The weaknesses could include a bad reputation, less sales to women, people just stop drinking Dr. Pepper because they find it sexist. If someone were to ask me if I would consider this ad to be memorable? I would say hell yeah it is! This is a great ad, and people won't forget about for a long time. This ad most definitely worked. I myself have bought some of the Dr. Pepper ten just so I could be a "macho-man" like the guys in the commercial, and also Dr. Pepper reached their target audience.

I learned that this is a great ad that worked in favor of Dr. Pepper no matter what some people may say about it. I think t

hat Dr. Peppers sales rose but don't quote me on that. Here's the commercial I have been talking about.
